Have we mentioned lately how much we love Crested Butte?! It is seriously one of our favorite places in Colorado, and we are incredibly grateful every time we have the opportunity to travel back to this quaint, beautiful mountain town to document a wedding.

Austin and Ariana’s intimate fall wedding in Crested Butte was joy-filled, stunning, and slightly moody — thanks to Colorado’s unpredictable weather.

Both Austin and Ariana grew up in Kansas and attended high school together. They were high school sweethearts and moved to Colorado a few years ago, where Austin popped the question, and Ariana said “yes.” When it came time to plan their wedding, they knew they wanted it to be an intimate, smaller wedding where they could have their closest family and friends celebrate with them high in the mountains.

They found a beautiful Airbnb in Crested Butte, Colorado, that allowed them to have a small wedding and host their closest family and friends. With on-site pickleball courts, a fire pit, 35 acres of private land, and the most stunning view of Mount Crested Butte, it was the perfect place to tie the knot.

The morning of the wedding started with Ariana getting ready with her four bridesmaids while Austin and his groomsmen finished getting ready downstairs. When we first arrived at the Airbnb, it was a beautiful, sunny day — little did we know that in just one hour, the weather would quickly change (typical Colorado weather!). We captured Ariana’s sweet first look with her dad — cue the tears — before we got ready for the ceremony to start.

At this point, the sky had darkened significantly and threatened to rain any minute. The ceremony was beautiful, and the love that Austin and Ariana had for each other was evident throughout it all. There were many personal touches included in the ceremony, such as Ariana’s bridesmaid playing the violin as Ariana walked down the aisle, Ariana’s brother officiating the ceremony, and Austin and Ariana incorporating a few Native American traditions, making it an even more special ceremony.

As soon as Austin and Ariana shared their first kiss as husband and wife, the sky opened up. It was pouring rain. Everyone ran inside for cover, where the rest of the celebration began.

The entire day was beautiful, and we are grateful we had the chance to witness the love Austin and Ariana had for each other, as well as see how loved they are by their family and friends. We love intimate weddings simply because it gives the couple a greater chance to relax and be a part of their wedding day with the people they love the most, and this day was no exception.
